Deadline was tickled to hear the news today that one of own, Awards Columnist Pete Hammond (that’s him in the picture), won the annual award from the Hollywood publicists guild for his work covering Hollywood.
Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr. was also nominated for the award, which put us in an impossible rooting position, but at least one of ours won. For Pete, he became only the second journalist to win the award twice.
We have more about the other award winners at the ICG Publicists Guild luncheon here at the start of a weekend full of awards: http://www.deadline.com/2013/02/deadlines-pete-hammond-wins-publicists-award/
Stay tuned to Deadline for all the news on the Independent Spirit Awards tomorrow and, of course, the Oscars on Sunday.
Meanwhile, visit Deadline to watch the series of videos featuring Pete talking about his picks for likely winners of just about all the Oscar categories (the last three will post tomorrow and Sunday morning).
We also have an audio podcast I recorded with Pete yesterday, talking about the ceremony itself, and why he made a couple of late changes in his choices for likely winners on Sunday.
