Will the price of getting Viacom channels back on DirecTV be taking more of their shows offline?

Word is rumbling up that as part of getting a new transmission deal for its 17 channels on DirecTV, Viacom would have to pull more of its shows from the Internet. It’s hard to see an outcome like this as pro-consumer.

On this recording, Deadline.com’s International Editor Nancy Tartaglione talks from a rain-soaked South of France about the first week of the Cannes Film Festival.

Nancy tells Deadline that, despite an unseasonable five days of rain and wind, lots of deals got done, particularly internationally.

Unsurprisingly, the biggest U.S. dealmaker of the festival was Harvey Weinstein, whose eponymous company had two films in competition, bought two more in the days just before the festival started and added another two during the fest. 

Overall, the show has seen solid and consistent business, if not spectacular, Nancy says. Check out our first podcast for more.
