One reason Seth MacFarlane is hosting the Oscars: He made a lot of people in Hollywood very rich with “Ted,” the amiable and amusing comedy of a boy and a bear, when the boy at least has grown up. The sleeper hit from last summer just became the highest-grossing R-rated original comedy of all time (yes, that’s a lot of qualifiers, but a lot of money ends up being involved nonetheless).
Deadline founder Nikki Finke has all the un-bear-able details here: http://www.deadline.com/2012/10/ted-1-biggest-r-rated-original-comedy/

Scott Stuber’s production company, fresh off the smash hit “Ted,” has optioned the graphic novel “The Order” to try to make it into a movie.
Interesting premise, but does anyone know the series? How is it? Any concerns about seeing it translated to the big screen?

It’s Teddy Bear v. Tatum in weekend box office throwdown; first round, both come out swinging

It is ON! Deadline Editor In Chief Nikki Finke says the first round of this weekend’s box office battles is a promising one indeed for the two expected leaders: “Ted” from Seth MacFarlane and “Magic Mike,” starring Channing Tatum and directed by his business partner in the project, Steven Soderbergh. Both came out swinging with strong midnight showings early Friday.

Read more here about the midnight screenings for both and weekend prospects: http://ow.ly/bUZQm

And this all comes on the heels of yesterday’s news, mentioned earlier on our Tumblr feed, that Soderbergh and Tatum are looking at creating a musical based on their man-meat-errific “Mike.”
