Deadline Awards Columnist Pete Hammond and AwardsLine Editor Christy Grosz sit down with ENTV’s Melana Scantlin to talk likely Emmy winners ahead of next weekend’s telecast.

Will it be “Mad Men” again in the Best Drama series, or will things break well for “Breaking Bad?” Can Louis CK stop the “Modern Family” juggernaut? Is Clare Danes a lock for her competent yet crazy role in “Homeland”? And as magnificent at Nicole Kidman was as Martha Gellhorn, was Julianne Moore the real “Game Change” in this year’s movie or miniseries best actress category?

Grandpa Ed O’Neill gently explains to 5-year-old Aubrey Anderson-Emmons why she’s the only person on the vast, award-winning cast of “Modern Family” who won’t be getting a pay raise this year.
Meanwhile, Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva explains to the rest of us why all the other kids, who’ve been on the show from the start, now should have more than enough money to cover not just college but grad school and their doctoral studies, provided their parents don’t go all Coleman on them.

So, it turns out that Sofia Vergara has really good form when she’s shooting a pistol, as this publicity shot from “Modern Family” with Julie Bowen would seem to suggest.
Leading up to the Emmys in a few weeks, we’ll be posting some of the better publicity shots we get sent from all the competing shows. This one has me vaguely considering joining a gun club.
Meanwhile, go to www.Deadline.com to read more of our ongoing Emmy and TV coverage. We’re planning another round of Emmy podcasts in two weeks to help you pick winners in the show itself.

For reasons we’re not wholly certain about, Sofia Vergara has posted this photo of herself as Lucille Ball. She’s found a hoooome.

Even with 14 nominations in this year’s Emmys, and two previous wins for best comedy, “Modern Family” producers Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd are still in jitterland, even if many people expect the show to triumph again.

Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reports everyone showed up for the rescheduled “Modern Family” table read, as part of a good-faith gesture between cast members seeking more pay and 20th Century Fox TV, which produces the show, to move contract discussions forward.
Okay, so, can we now get on with paying the cast a nice, fair chunk of change and get the show back on the air in a timely fashion for this fall and Emmy season and all that? Thank you.
