So, it’s official: the big switch of Jimmy Fallon for Jay Leno at one of NBC’s most prized few remaining moneymakers is now set and official and literally a done deal, Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reports here, with lots of details: http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/nbc-sets-tonight-show-transition-with-jimmy-fallon-taking-over-in-2014/
Given all the craziness leading up to the official announcement, however, one has to wonder whether this particular train is crossing a bridge to greater success (especially with the younger demographic that appreciates Fallon’s new media savvy, musical skits and edgier humor), or if that particular bridge is just out.
What do you think? Is this likely to go well, or go all CoCo cray-cray?

Okay, I think this is amusing, but damned, it’s complicated Jay Leno and the man who is expected to succeed him soon, Jimmy Fallon, got together for this bit last night where they sing an amusing rewrite of the “West Side Story” chestnut “Tonight,” wondering who’ll be doing the show.
Kudos, I guess, for the two maintaining some friendship in the middle of what has to be a very complicated and difficult time. Hear the whole thing here: http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/video-jay-leno-jimmy-fallon-team-for-late-night-teaser/

"It would be great, sure, I guess. I’d love it, but it’s not on my mind."

Jimmy Fallon, speaking recently to GQ about hosting “The Tonight Show” after Jay Leno’s contract expires next year.

Now, Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva is reporting mounting pressure for NBC to show its hand on the transition, sparked in part by pointed jokes Leno made the past couple of nights, talk of Fallon’s desire to move the show to New York when he takes over and only slightly veiled comments by “Late Show” producer Lorne Michaels

Jimmy Fallon gets friendly with Vine, the new sharing site from Twitter for VERY short videos, then posts the result on Twitter:

Who’s tried Vine? What do you think? Can you say enough in 6 seconds to make it worthwhile?

Jimmy Fallon is fast proving he’s more than a pleasant “SNL” grad who turned into a solid late-night talk-show host. His production company has just sold three projects to two networks, and he’ll be an executive producer on all three.
Phew! It’s tiring just thinking about it all.
Read more here all of Fallon’s fine new side projects:

Seth MacFarlane’s in; Who do YOU want to see host SNL?

Deadline is reporting that “Family Guy”/”Ted” creator Seth MacFarlane is set to host the season-opening episode of “Saturday Night Live.” (Read more here

This news, of course, makes us wonder who else should host this year’s episodes of the late-night comedy stalwart? Who would you like to see on the show? Alec Baldwin? Jimmy Kimmel? Jimmy Fallon? Tina Fey? Snooki? Tim Tebow? Phyllis Diller? Barry Diller?

No shock: Fallon won’t host Oscar; Sorta shock: Michaels might still produce

Not surprising: NBC’s late-night host Jimmy Fallon will NOT be doing Oscar hosting this year, he confirms today and Deadline’s Nikki Finke predicted a bit ago (lots of behind-the-scenes maneuvering by outgoing Academy President Tom Sherak led to some controversy; Fallon has wisely stepped away from all that mess in a gracious and face-preserving way)

What’s kinda surprising: Fallon’s former “Saturday Night Live” boss, Lorne Michaels, may still co-produce, Nikki says.

Well, this is an interesting turn of events.
Deadline’s Editor in Chief Nikki Finke is reporting on the fast one that outgoing Academy president Tom Sherak tried to pull just before he stepped down. Now, his successor Hawk Koch will need to move fast on what she describes as the most important decision of any Academy president: hiring the Oscar telecast producer and host.
So, should Koch go ahead and try to finish the deals with Michaels and Fallon?
