Fox, like NBC, rolled out trailers for a bunch of their new shows today as they made their pitches to advertisers as part of the upfronts.

I have to say the trailer for “Almost Human,” the new sci-fi show from J.J. Abrams, looks pretty terrific, and has remarkable production values for its visual effects. Check it out here: http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/fox-trailers-new-series-2013/

What do you think of “Almost Human?” How about the other trailers we have on tap there? Anything catching your eye? I was intrigued by “Sleepy Hollow,” liked SOME things about “Us & Them” and thought “Rake” might be pretty decent over time.

The others, hmm, not so much, even with excellent casts. Not sure what happened, but maybe they’ll survive long enough to be okay.

This countdown will take a while longer than 24 hours, but at least fans of the Fox action-drama “24” will have something to look forward to: Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reports that “marathon negotiations” with Kiefer Sutherland have cleared the way for the show’s return as a limited-run series.

Nellie also has a ton of other news from the Fox presentation to advertisers this morning, including “American Idol” judge revamps and much more.
So, who’s excited about the return of “24”?

Just a few days ago, Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva noted that limited-run series - already common in English TV - are becoming all the rage among U.S. networks creating the big dramas with multi-episode story lines that are winning awards and viewers.
Now comes news from Nellie that one of the biggest of big dramas with multi-episode story lines may be coming back as a limited-run series.
Yes, there’s a reason I used a picture of Kiefer Sutherland from “24.” Jack is in talks with Fox to help make it happen. Read more here: http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/24-eyes-return-as-limited-series-on-fox-kiefer-sutherland-in-talks/
Who’s looking forward to seeing the show again? Will they have to rename it something like “10 or “12”?

Are you a fan of the long-running reality/documentary show, “Cops?” If so prepare to reprogram the DVR: Saturday’s episode was its last there, but the show has found a new home.
Read the story here: http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/cops-cancelled-by-fox-picked-up-by-spike-tv/
Should the show continue, or should “COPS” just have called it a wrap?

The clock has struck, well, long past midnight on Fox’s rights to make another “Daredevil” movie, sending them on to the studio that now owns Marvel, one Walt Disney Corp.
Now, says Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr., the question is whether the Mouse House will take a run at a sequel as it continues to milk the Marvel catalog.
Also in question is whether Ben Affleck, who starred as the blind lawyer turned superhero, might be available for a reprise. He seems, in the wake of directing/producing/starring in the Oscar-winning “Argo,” to have developed some new interests.
Here’s Mike’s piece on the whole thing: http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/toldja-daredevil-rights-revert-from-fox-to-disney/
Do you want to see another “Daredevil” movie? Would you want Affleck to be its star, or should they reboot?

For those of us who are fans of Neal Stephenson’s very smart sci-fi books, especially his tremendously entertaining and admittedly somewhat over-the-top techno thriller “Reamde,” comes some very interesting news indeed.
The Weitz brothers, who’ve together and separately made some of the more engaging films of recent times, are going to try to turn “Reamde” into a TV series. Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva has all the details here: http://www.deadline.com/2013/02/chriz-paul-weitz-to-adapt-novel-reamde-as-tv-series-for-fox-tv-studios/
So, “Reamde” fans, what do you think? Is a TV show the way to go for this massive, intricately plotted, tech savvy, occasionally nastily violent and frequently funny tome to come to a screen of some sort? Are the Weitzes the ones to do it?

"Without Fey’s 30 Rock, it’s harder to imagine the environment would have existed for a creator-star like Mindy Kaling to rise with ‘The Mindy Project’ at Fox, or certainly for a daring and controversial writer-producer-star like Lena Dunham to make ‘Girls’ at HBO."

Deadline contributor Ray Richmond, writing about “30 Rock” and what creator/star Tina Fey wrought in the seven years of the show’s run, which ends tonight.

It’s a good read, a well-timed opportunity to think about the bigger implications of Fey’s low-rated but hugely influential show, and whether TV will continue to be shaped by the model she created.

Catch my latest conversation with Deadline Executive Editor David Lieberman about media, entertainment and tech on Wall Street and far beyond, in episode 20 of our podcast “Deadline Big Media.”
This week, with earnings season chugging along for tech companies (media companies coming in the next 10 days or so), we talk about the very different responses investors had for the earnings reports by Apple and Netflix; whether Fox should consider starting its own national sports networks; and a very bad week for the videogame industry, especially the bankrupt Atari and THQ.

It’s not quite dead, but the vital signs aren’t much evident for “Ben and Kate,” a Fox comedy now being taken from the schedule with a few more episodes to shoot, Deadline TV Editor Nellie Andreeva reports.

For those wondering how the new L.A. Dodger owners were going to cover their $2.1 billion purchase price of the Major League Baseball franchise, Deadline founder Nikki Finke has a few clues. Actually, Nikki has between 6 billion and 7 billion clues, the dollars that are being discussed included in a close-to-done deal between the Dodgers and Fox Sports that would cover broadcast rights for a quarter century.

The deal may also involve Dick Clark Productions, the company behind a passel of awards shows that also was purchased recently by Dodgers principal owner Guggenheim Partners.
And while Fox is paying now, obviously it means that Dodger fans will be paying later, for access to games on basic cable through Fox’s sports channels.
Read more on this mammoth deal and What It All Means here: http://www.deadline.com/2012/11/exclusive-fox-closing-deal-for-dodgers-tv-rights-paying-new-owner-6b-7b-for-25-years-were-out-if-not-done-by-nov-30/
What do you think of this deal? Do you like the job Fox has done with Dodgers games in previous years? Are you concerned about more of the games going into basic cable and becoming unavailable for fans using broadcast channels?
