In a very busy news day, we also pulled together a second podcast from one of our Deadline reporters at this week’s CinemaCon, in this case, Awards Columnist Pete Hammond, who checked out the dozens of films on tap for the rest of the year from the seven largest movie studios.
Generally speaking, Pete said, it’ll be more explosions and more guns for more of the big R-rated films the studios are rolling out. There are a couple of gems that could catch other audiences’ attention, but the studios aren’t making nearly enough of them. Catch his take on our podcast here: http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/deadline-awards-watch-with-pete-hammond-episode-22/
We also talk about the Cannes Film Festival lineup, the TV Academy rollback on a surprising decision to cut acting categories in the movie and miniseries area, and the Motion Picture Academy’s announcement of who will produce next year’s Oscar ceremony. LOTS going on this week. Sheesh!
