Now, Chenoweth will be the first guest host on Anderson Cooper’s syndicated talk show in its new format, among others to appear on “Anderson.”

CNN, facing cratering ratings and examining what kind of programming it can roll out that might be kind of news-ish but not just ratings-death news, has come up with an idea for its weekend programming: Supersize It! With Morgan Spurlock!

Time Warner chief Bewkes: CNN needs to be more engaging

In what is surely the shortest stretch of credulity in this earnings-report-filled morning, Jeff Bewkes says CNN needs to be “more engaging” 

Uh, viewers say that too, which may be why ratings are hitting two-decade lows. Real question is what you’re going to do about it, Chief. Oh, and do it while retaining the journalistic credibility CNN has built since its inception as Ted Turner’s little underfunded and spunky news sandbox back in the day.

CNN’s top exec has been told he’ll be gone by year’s end. After the network’s ratings crater, which included two-decade ratings lows in recent weeks, a departure can hardly be a surprise. What  would you want to see from the struggling cable news channel next?

Deadline’s Nikki Finke reports that a plan by HBO to create a TV movie about Roger Ailes, the sometimes controversial creator of Fox News Channel, to be produced by Fox rivals over at MSNBC, is now on hold.

Perhaps day's least surprising news: Fox to keep producer behind scathing anti-Obama piece
