Deadline Awards Columnist Pete Hammond was at the Television Academy last night for a screening of “Mad Men” and Q&A featuring show creator Matthew Weiner and six of the show’s performers, including John Slattery, January Jones and Christina Hendricks. The event drew more than a full house, leaving 150 on the outside wishing they were in. In a smart move, however, event organizers gave all the turnaways a lovely parting gift, a jar of olives perfect for one of those “Mad” martinis quaffed so freely on the program.  Pete has many more details on the event and what the participants had to say about being part of the most honored TV show in recent years here. Oh, and if you’re wondering what caused Weiner to fly east from directing his first film (and flying back immediately thereafter), voting for Emmy Awards opened today.
